What Is The Nuclear Physics Degree?
The Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Physics is housed within the College of Natural
& Health Sciences. This program is designed to provide highly technical skills alongside
the theoretical knowledge to be successful in the nuclear power industry. Students
in this program should also be prepared to pursue graduate studies in the arenas of
Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Medicine.
What Will I Learn In This Program?
- Fundamental understanding of nature in terms of motion, forces, energy, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics and relativity.
- Nuclear physics and radiation.
- Problem-solving skills and advanced mathematical and laboratory techniques that can be applied in a wide variety of fields.
- Presentation of research findings and participation in the scientific community.

Positions within the Nuclear Physics fields combine theoretical knowledge with practical
application and vary from research and laboratory work to a corporate setting. Graduates
of the program are currently working in Arkansas in nuclear power and nuclear medicine.
